Grampian Gooners meet up

Butchers Arms

Grampian Gooners meet up for televised games at The Butchers Arms, located at 443 George Street, Aberdeen, AB25 3YB.

Arsenal Supporters are assured of an open welcome at the Butchers Arms. Great food, great company and, we all hope,  a great game of football.  I’m sure Charlie Nicholas would agree!

Your North East reps,

Linda and Caz

Why mention Charlie? Well, Sunday was a special day for Grampian Gooners. Not only was it (yet) another win for The Arsenal but it was also occasion to recognise the Butchers Arms as our new favourite haunt.

What better for Grampian Gooners but a framed Arsenal shirt signed by none other than Charlie Nicholas, seen here being handed over by ASSC Regional Rep Linda Collie.

Charlie Nicholas

As it says on the Arsenal.com website,

Arsenal’s fans needed cheering up as the mid-1980s approached. The signing of Charlie Nicholas put a smile back on their faces.

Charlie Nicholas joined Arsenal in 1983, at the end of a season when he won both the Scottish PFA Player of the Year and Scottish Football Writers’ Player of the Year awards.  He was Arsenal’s Player of the Year award for 1984.

Charlie scored 54 goals in 184 matches for Arsenal. Five important goals included a brace in a 4-2 win in his first North London Derby.

And ‘spose we should mention that ‘Champagne Charlie’ also played for Aberdeen FC 😉

ASSC is Arsenal Scotland ..

.. and we have members is almost all parts of the country.  The plan is to post details of other places where Gooners in other Regions also meet up.

Check how to contact the Regional Reps and other members of the Management Committee.
